The beauty benefits of the area have been known since the times of Cleopatra.

that it served her.)
The main beneficiaries of the health aspects are those suffering from skin problems, such as Psoriasis, Vitiligo, Eczema, Acne, and those ailments of the joints, including Sports injuries, Arthritis and Rhumatism.
To understand the benefits, some basic information is in the order.
The Dead Sea, also known as the Salt Sea, is so named because virtually nothing lives in it, due to its
30% concentration of salts and minerals. This accounts for the phenomenal buoyancy of the water, which
precludes swimming but enables even non-swimmers to float effortlessly.
Some of these minerals are brought by springs from deep within the earth. Waters maintain the heat
even its rises to the surface and flows into the Dead Sea,
Mazor Hot Springs at Ein Gedi and Zohar Hot Springs at Sodom.
The Dead Sea is also fed by the Jordan River, fresh water spring in the vicinity and run-off from watersheds.
On their way, they carry mineral-rich muds which are deposited along parts of the shore; peloid muds which
is highly therapeutic when applied on the skin or joints.
Finally year-round sunshine and the desert environment contribute to rapid evaporation of the water, thus
also creating a high concentration of oxygen and
bromine in the very air one breathes.
This leads to a relaxing effect on the individual and, thanks to a pollen-free environment, is beneficial for some allergies.
Skin disorders are treated primarily via programmed exposure to the sun.
It is believed that the greater distance which the sun´s rays have to travel –
Extra 416 meters below sea level, enhanced by the heavy ozone layer and water vapor
In the region, services to filter the sun´s rays, thus modifying the harmful ultraviolet portion. This permits
longer periods of exposure to the healing rays of the sun.
Those with problems of the joints, meanwhile, are apt to enjoy the first
relief of symptoms by mere virtue of being in the arid environment of the region.
They experience further benefits from floating in the Dead Sea itself,
as the weightlessness relieves pressure on joints. Additional enhancement often
comes from application of peliod mudpacks and wrap and immersion in
mineral-water pools fed by the natural sulfur springs.
